Obiettivi formativi
The course aims at:
1) Presenting the methods used in cognitive and affective neuroscience
2) Outlining the neurobiological bases of higher-order perceptual, cognitive and affective functions
3) Describing the anatomical and functional interactions between cognitive and affective processes
4) Discussing neuronal mechanisms underpinning major neuropsychological conditions entailing deficits in cognitive and affective functions.

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi
At the end of the course, students should become acquainted with basic neuroscientific principles underlying normal functioning of cognitive and affective processes, the similarities and differences between cognition and emotion, and the neuroanatomical and neurofunctional changes associated with the major neuropsychological conditions entailing deficits in either higher-order cognitive or affective processes.
Students are expected to appreciate the rationale of the common methods applied in cognitive and affective neuroscience.
